Project Overview
Weatherproof Consulting provided a holistic approach to upgrading a rooftop in Sydney Harbour’s prime positioning, ensuring longevity and aesthetic appeal while maintaining compliance with Building Code of Australia standards and relevant Australian Standards.
Key Issues
- Excess water ponding
- Inadequate gradient preventing proper water discharge
- Roof membrane degradation
- Water ingress through various elements
- Missing overflow provisions
Project Objectives
The client required a rooftop that is:
- Fit for purpose
- Leak-proof
- Durable
- Equipped for future solar panel installation
Design & Planning
The comprehensive planning approach included:
- Site level survey to determine existing gradients and requirements
- Wind uplift study to establish membrane installation methodology
- Hydraulic analysis to determine necessary overflow provisions
Implemented Solutions
The team applied:
- N16 vertical and N12 horizontal steel reinforcement with N24 dowels and 32MPa concrete for increased parapet wall achieving 4-degree internal grade
- 6 overflow provisions cast into concrete
- Vapour barrier installation
- 1:60 tapered insulation board
- PVC welded fully adhered membrane
- Weldable bars for solar panel installation without structural slab penetrations
- ITP Checklist during works including seam probe, level survey, and adhesion testing
- Post-completion flood, seam probe, and thermal scanning verification
Warranty
A 20-year manufacturer and applicator warranty was provided given the extensive specifications applied.
